What Whispirit is

Whispirit is an interactive spirit board made for entertainment. The answers are written by an artificial intelligence (an AI model), not by spirits, and not by people who have passed away. Nothing on the board is a prediction, a fact about your life, or advice of any kind: medical, psychological, legal or financial.

If you are grieving or going through a hard time, please talk to someone you trust. Using the site

• Whispirit is meant for people aged 16 and over.
• Please don't type passwords, ID numbers, health details or other sensitive personal information into the board. It doesn't need them.
• Don't use the site to harass anyone or to try to break it. To keep it free and working, the number of questions per visitor is limited.
• The site is offered “as is”. It may sometimes be slow, unavailable, or answer strangely.

Your questions

When you ask something, your question and the last few messages of the conversation are sent from our server to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI model, so it can write the answer. Anthropic processes this as our service provider, under its commercial terms. On our side, conversations are not saved: they are not stored in a database and are not written to the server logs. When you close or refresh the page, the conversation is gone.

Your voice (only if you use the candle)

Speech is turned into text by your browser, not by us. Some browsers do this on your device; others, such as Chrome, send the audio to their maker (Google) for recognition. Only the resulting text reaches Whispirit, exactly as if you had typed it. The microphone is used only while the candle is lit.

Technical data

• IP address: kept in the server's memory only to count how many questions you've asked today (abuse protection), and cleared within a day. The hosting provider (Render) also keeps standard technical logs of requests.
• Visit statistics: we use GoatCounter, which counts visits anonymously, without cookies and without identifying you: pages viewed, country, browser type, and simple moments such as “a question was asked” or “voice was used”. The content of your questions is never included.
• Fonts: the lettering comes from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to download it.
• On your device: the site remembers only whether you turned the sound off.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. In practice we keep nothing that identifies you, but you can always write to us. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
